Research and Development

In RAIT88's Strategic Plan, the key areas the company is targeting are based on Data Mining and Machine Learning technologies, with a specific focus on the Defense, Health and Telecommunications sectors.

The company has begun to invest in the field of Robotics, Lifelike Reality and Artificial Intelligence, with particular focus on the Aerospace and Terrestrial fields by considerably expanding its R&D structure, collaborating with top Research Institutions and Universities.

Advanced robotics for the circular semiconductor economy

closer

RAIT88 is a partner in the European project CLOSER, funded by the European Union under the I3 program, with the aim of strengthening European strategic autonomy in the semiconductor sector through circular economy models. As part of the project, RAIT88 has developed, thanks to European funds, an advanced robot for the selective separation of valuable and reusable electronic components from end-of-life PCBs. The solution makes it possible to identify, extract and preserve high-value components, enabling their reuse or re-introduction into technologically advanced industrial supply chains. RAIT88's approach integrates robotics, sensing and reverse engineering expertise, contributing to reduction of e-waste, recovery of critical materials and building more resilient and sustainable European supply chains. The project is currently underway.

Advanced Urban Air Quality Information System.

Armonia

The Armonia project has developed an Advanced Information System for Air Quality in urban settings, based on distributed monitoring of air pollutants, ambient noise and vehicular traffic, the main source of emissions in densely populated areas. The solution integrates advanced pollutant emission and dispersion models, continuously validated through low-cost sensors (LCAQMS) and Artificial Intelligence techniques, to generate high-resolution, real-time and predictive maps of air quality. The system supports both citizen information and local government decisions on urban mobility and traffic management. The project was co-financed by the Campania Region - POR FESR 2014-2020 and was implemented by a consortium of four companies.

Development of innovative solutions to mitigate the effects of drought

DIME - Water4All

The project addresses the increasing scarcity of water resources through the development of an innovative, low-cost superabsorbent material based on alginate and biochar functionalized with metal oxides. The material is designed for the treatment of contaminated waters, water saving and mitigation of drought effects, with applications in agriculture. The solution enables the removal of organic pollutants, bacteria and antibiotic resistance genes from wastewater and irrigation, as well as improving soil properties and crop yields, particularly leguminous crops. The project contributes to the development of advanced tools for sustainable water management, fostering climate resilience and international cooperation in heterogeneous hydro-climatic contexts.
